Object Label Home of Caldwell Hardy, 1890 American Published by Harry Cowles Mann, ca. 1909–24 Gelatin silver print (photograph) Caldwell Hardy (1852–1923), President of the Norfolk National Bank, resided in this fine downtown Norfolk home at the corner of Granby and Market Streets. Around 1905 he moved to a new house on Stockley Gardens in Ghent, and this house was demolished to make way for a seven-story furniture store. This photograph bears Mann’s name in the lower right corner, but given the date, he could not have been its original author. The signature is evidence that Mann reprinted works by earlier photographers, as may be the case with all four photographs on this wall. Gift of Mr. Glasgow Clark 47.18.1
